Senior CMS Developer (WordPress & Headless)

Overview

Attors Technologies is hiring a Senior CMS Developer to lead the build of content-managed websites for businesses and agencies in the United States, the United Kingdom and Europe. You will turn approved designs into fast, accessible and maintainable websites on WordPress and headless architectures, and you will set the technical standard for the CMS projects you own.

This is a hands-on senior role. You will work directly with our designers, project leads and the CTO, take ownership of technical decisions on your projects, and review code from other developers on the team.

Key responsibilities

• Build custom WordPress themes, Gutenberg blocks and plugins from Figma designs, with clean, documented and reusable code.
• Develop headless builds using WordPress as the CMS with a Next.js front end, including REST and GraphQL integrations.
• Plan content models, custom post types, taxonomies and editor permissions around how the client’s team will manage the site.
• Integrate third-party services such as CRMs, payment gateways, booking tools, analytics and marketing platforms.
• Lead website migrations and redesigns, including content migration, URL mapping and redirects that protect search rankings.
• Own performance, security and Core Web Vitals on your projects, from caching and image optimisation to hardening and updates.
• Review pull requests, mentor junior developers and contribute to our internal development standards.
• Estimate technical work accurately and communicate clearly with project leads and, where needed, with clients.

Requirements

• 3 to 5 years of professional experience building WordPress websites for clients or in-house teams.
• Strong PHP, JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5 and CSS, with a solid understanding of the WordPress core, hooks and the REST API.
• Proven experience building custom themes and Gutenberg blocks; experience with ACF or similar field frameworks.
• Working knowledge of WooCommerce, including custom checkout and product configuration.
• Experience with Git, pull-request workflows and staging-to-production deployments.
• A practical understanding of technical SEO, accessibility (WCAG 2.1) and web performance.
• Clear written and spoken English for working with international clients and documentation.

Nice to have

• Experience with React or Next.js, especially in headless WordPress projects.
• Experience with Shopify, Webflow or another modern CMS.
• Familiarity with Composer, WP-CLI, Docker or CI/CD pipelines.
• A portfolio of production websites you built or led.
